USC's Samirah Moody Matches No. 3 All-Time Collegiate 60 Dash With 7.07

Portland's Laura Pellicoro ran a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 32.91 seconds in the mile at the right time and moved into the top 16 on the NCAA leaderboard with a meet record at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle. 

Pellicoro, a 2022 NCAA Indoor finalist in the mile, came into the weekend ranked 24th and moved up 10 spots with Saturday's performance.

The top seven finishers all ran under 4:35. Washington's Anna Gibson was second in 4:33.41, Stanford freshman Juliette Whittaker was third in 4:33.53, Oregon State's Kaylee Mitchell was fourth in 4:33.87, Grace Fetherstonhaugh of OSU was fifth in 4:34.32, BYU's Lexy Halladay-Lowry was sixth in 4:34.83 and UCLA's Mia Barnett was eventh in 4:34.92. 

Isaiah Givens of Colorado won the men's mile in 3:55.99 for a school record and meet record that put him 19th on the NCAA list. 

Samirah Moody broke the Dempsey Indoor record for the 60-meter dash with 7.07 seconds. Only collegiate record breaker Julien Alfred of Texas has run faster in the NCAA this year. Oregon's Jadyn Mays was also under the facility record with 7.13.

USC's Jan'Taijah Jones (51.66), Yemi Mary John (52.04), Bailey Lear (52.14) and Christine Mallard (52.57) swept the top four places in the women's 400 meters. 

John, a freshman from Great Britain, made her collegiate debut and moved into the top 16 on the NCAA list on her first try. She was the World U20 Champion in the 400 meters last summer in Cali, Colombia. 

The USC women later joined forces in the 4x400 relay and broke the Dempsey track record with 3:29.78, a slight improvement that leaves the team at No. 8.

Another USC freshman, Justin Braun, won the men's 400 meters in 46.48. USC also won the men's 4x400 with a track record 3:05.01.

Claire Seymour ran 2:02.75 for victory in the women's 800, which was the time that she needed to make the NCAA cut for nationals. She moved up to No. 10. 

Likewise, Stanford's John Lester moved up into a tie for 10th in the men's 800 meters with his victory in 1:46.93. 

Six women ran under nine minutes in the women's 3,000 meters, with Utah's Simone Plourde taking the victory in 8:53.95. That time elevated her to No. 6 on the NCAA list. 

Ky Robinson and Charles Hicks went 1-2 for Stanford in the men's 3,000. Robinson ran 7:42.30, good for No. 7 in the NCAA, and Hicks was next in 7:47.45.

Udodi Onwuzurike from Stanford won the men's 60 meters in 6.59 seconds. 

Jaida Ross threw more than a foot farther than her previous best and won women's shot put competition with 59-9.75 (18.23m). Oregon teammate Jorinde Van Klinken, the NCAA record holder, was second with 58-4.50. 

Six women in the competition threw beyond 53 feet. 

Washington's Bruno Comin Pescador, a freshman from Spain, improved his heptathlon score by more than 300 points and put himself in an NCAA qualifying position. His 6,061 points moved him up to fifth on the list. 

Alysah Hickey won the women's long jump with 20-11.75 (6.39m).

Prestin Artis from Washington jumped a season-best 25-5.25 to win the men's long jump.
